Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS PURNAA'S MOQ?

Our minimum order quantity (MOQ) varies based on the product.  A small production run is 500 units per style. Every production run takes lots of work to prepare and longer production runs help us accomplish our social mission of full-time work for marginalized people. Therefore faster-to-make products typically have higher MOQs, and slow-to-make products have lower MOQs. Additionally, some of our materials suppliers have material MOQs that can affect how few products we can make. Within our MOQs, you can order multiple sizes and colorways. We will let you know the MOQ for your product when we make an initial estimate, but this may change as you choose materials in development. Your project manager will let you know if that is the case.

WHAT ARE PURNAA'S LEAD TIMES?

Lead times vary based on how much product development support you need, material sourcing time, and production quantity. Product development can last 1-3 months, material sourcing 1 week - 2 months (though often sourcing is being done concurrently with development), and production usually 2 weeks-2 months. So the whole process can range from 2-7 months. It is always best to start product development early just in case it takes time to finalize the style and make sure you get products in time for your sales needs.

CAN PURNAA SOURCE SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS?

Yes! We source from a wide range of fabric mills across Asia and beyond. When manufacturing with Purnaa, you get a designated Project Manager who works with you to understand your material requirements.  Then s/he will find swatches from our sourcing library or work with our Material Sourcing Director to explore the market, connecting with fabric mills to find materials that will suit your manufacturing needs.

CAN PURNAA GIVE ME A QUOTE FOR MY PRODUCT?

Yes. When you submit an inquiry, our team will send you an initial estimate.  However, only after your final sample is complete can we provide you with a final quote.

DOES PURNAA PROVIDE SAMPLES?

Yes, we offer a range of product development services that include a dedicated Purnaa Project Manager who can guide you in all parts of the development process including pattern-making, sampling, material sourcing, and costing-optimization to help you reach your goals.

If your product is already fully developed, we also offer basic sampling services for costing and approvals before bulk production.

WHAT KIND OF PRODUCTS DOES PURNAA MAKE?

We have flexible capabilities, making garments and accessories with both woven and knit fabrics. However, we have the most experience with knit-fabric tops (t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc), baseball-caps, bags and totes, and unique accessories.

DOES PURNAA HAVE A CATALOG OF PRE-DESIGNED PRODUCTS TO ORDER FROM STOCK?

In addition to the items we make for other brands, Purnaa also makes The Purnaa Collection, which contains in-stock bags, accessories, and apparel available for wholesale orders of $500 or more.

CAN I PUT MY LABEL ON PURNAA COLLECTION ITEMS?

Certain Purnaa Collection items have exterior, embossed-leather brand logos that can be replaced with your label for a small additional charge on orders of 50 or more pieces per style.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN THAT PURNAA IS A GUARANTEED WFTO MEMBER?

Purnaa maintains membership in the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) so that an outside organization verifies our ethical practices. Being a guaranteed member means that we adhere to the 10 WFTO Principles which is checked by the WFTO through a thorough audit and review process.

HOW DOES PURNAA HANDLE SHIPPING?

We typically arrange the shipping for you and work with multiple cargo companies to find the best rate and speed for your needs. If you prefer, you can nominate your own freight forwarder and have items picked up from us in Nepal. If we arrange the shipping for you, we will charge the cost of shipping on your invoice, which in accordance with Nepali laws, you will need to pay at the time of dispatching from Nepal. Your Purnaa Project Manager will discuss the shipping options with you and help you balance speed vs cost.

WILL I HAVE TO PAY IMPORT DUTIES?

It depends on your country, the product, and the size of the order. Some countries have duties waivers for Nepal as a "least developed country" and the United States has a special trade preference program for most Nepal-made hats, bags, and a few other products. If your product does not qualify for these programs, as the importer to your country, you will be responsible to pay any import duties that may be due.
