Congratulations, you won the employee of the month award! How did you feel when you found out that you won?
Thank you. I was not expecting it. There are so many people who work here so it could have been anyone. I was really happy after the announcement. I worked really hard during this time so I was quite happy.
We want to get to know you a little better. Can you tell us about your family?
I live with my mom, dad, and younger brother. I have my two sisters, one older and one younger. Both of them are studying in Australia right now. I don’t get to see them very often, but we can video call each other and we are able to talk on a daily basis.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time I usually like watching TV, reading books, and recently I have learned how to swim, so I feel like going swimming whenever I have free time.
Who is your role model and why?
I think it’s my dad and mom. They have done a lot of things and had some struggles in their life, but they inspire me because they never give up and always keep trying. That’s the main thing I’ve learned from them.
What is something fun or interesting you have done recently?
I would say learning how to swim. I used to be really scared of water, but I still wanted to try. Now I am able to swim and I have conquered my fear of water. It’s very fun. There were six of us from Purnaa who took lessons. I am thankful to Purnaa for giving us the opportunity to learn something new. I really like that Purnaa encourages employees to do new life-skills training.
If you only had one word to describe yourself, what would it be?
This is a tough one. I’ve never thought about this type of question before. I think I would say helpful.
When have you been the most satisfied in your life?
I think it’s when I came to Purnaa. I enjoy learning new skills that I never knew before and I enjoy working for a company who thinks about women’s empowerment and is providing them with jobs and other facilities as well. I think it’s the best thing in my life, working for this company.
What is your job at Purnaa?
I am the accountant. I do a lot of different things like ensuring the accounts are all matched with each other, VAT filing, salaries, provident fund, and so many other things.
What do you enjoy the most about your job?
The thing I like the most about my job is learning new things.
How long have you worked at Purnaa?
It’s been around 9 months.
What did you do before you worked at Purnaa?
I was working at an audit company. I worked there as an auditor for about 2 ½ years.
What is different about Purnaa from other places you have worked?
The difference between Purnaa and other companies is the care and support Purnaa provides to our employees. It’s not that other companies don’t care about their employees, but what Purnaa does is different. Here we want all the employees to have a fulfilled life, we make sure that people have sufficient funds for their children, for their health, and for their everyday life. That’s the thing that’s different from other companies; the love and care Purnaa provides to their employees.
What keeps you coming to work?
I am motivated every day by the people I work with; seeing everyone trying to help people from marginalized backgrounds. Also I feel very loved, valued, and cared for here. Everyone at Purnaa is loved and cared for, not matter what their position is.
What have you learned from working at Purnaa that you would like to share with others?
Helping other people and loving each other is the thing that I’ve learned from Purnaa.
If you had to convince a friend to apply for this job, what would you tell them?
I have already had one of my friends apply and get a job at Purnaa. I said Purnaa is a very good company. You can contribute to something good; you can join and help others. You can even share with other friends so that people know what Purnaa is doing.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Purnaa is a very nice place to work. The work environment is very pleasant and I see happy people all around. The care that Purnaa gives to it’s people is really inspiring. I don’t feel like other companies are caring for their employees at the level that Purnaa is, so I think that’s the best thing, the way Purnaa values the employees.
